Luis Diaz (no.14) headed in a Harry Kane cross in the third minute of injury time

Munich (Germany) (AFP) - Luis Diaz scored in stoppage time to help Bayern Munich bounce back from Wednesday’s Champions League loss to Arsenal in a 3-1 comeback victory at home to St Pauli on Saturday.

RB Leipzig’s scoreless draw at Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday meant that Bayern will finish the weekend eight points clear at the top of the table.

Diaz, who was suspended for the Arsenal defeat – Bayern’s first in any competition this season – headed in a Harry Kane cross in the third minute of injury time to give Bayern the lead for the first time in the match.

Nicolas Jackson then scored four minutes later to add gloss to the victory as Bayern avoided dropping points for just the second time this season in the Bundesliga.

Earlier, Diaz created Bayern’s first-half equaliser for Raphael Guerreiro after Andreas Hountondji had given lowly Pauli a surprise lead six minutes in.

Veteran Bayern goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer credited his side’s “belief”.

“We kept going after we went behind and were unlucky to hit the post three times. The late goals were a relief,” Neuer said.

Arriving in Munich after a club-record eight straight Bundesliga defeats, Pauli stunned the champions early on.

The visitors forced Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich into a mistake in midfield and Hountondji outmuscled Kim Min-jae to claim the ball before shooting past Neuer at the near post.

Bayern youngsters Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof both hit the post before Diaz acrobatically created the leveller.

Kim chipped a long pass to Diaz in the box but while the Colombian fell, he somehow squeezed the ball to Guerreiro, who blasted in from close range.

Kane hit the woodwork with 10 minutes remaining but was crucial in Diaz’s late strike, lofting a ball goalwards for the former Liverpool forward to head home, before Chelsea loanee Jackson added a third with the final kick of the match.

- Dortmund beat Leverkusen -

Borussia Dortmund won 2-1 at Bayer Leverkusen to leapfrog their opponents into third in the table, thanks to goals from Aaron Anselmino and Karim Adeyemi.

Borussia Dortmund defender Aaron Anselmino rose high to head a Daniel Svensson cross in off the post

Leverkusen looked leggy after their shock 2-0 win at Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday, allowing Dortmund to take the lead just before half-time in simple fashion.

Despite the attentions of two Leverkusen defenders, Chelsea loanee Anselmino rose high to head a Daniel Svensson cross in off the post.

Dortmund doubled up after 65 minutes when former Wolves striker Fabio Silva, on as a substitute, found Adeyemi in the box with a pinpoint cross which the Germany forward headed in.

Leverkusen gave their fans late hope when Christian Kofane scored with seven minutes left, but Dortmund held on.

The two sides will meet each other again, this time in Dortmund, on Tuesday in the last 16 of the German Cup.

“It was an important match against a good competitor, but it was only one of two” Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt told Sky Germany.

“Playing at home will of course be different,” Brandt said of Dortmund’s 82,000-strong Westfalenstadion.

Elsewhere, Heidenheim scored twice after the 90th minute to snatch a 2-1 win away to Union Berlin and climb off the foot of the table.

Germany starlet Said El Mala scored a stoppage-time equaliser for promoted Cologne in a 1-1 draw away to Werder Bremen.

Hoffenheim jumped up to fifth in the table with a 3-0 win at home to floundering Augsburg, who are winless since early October.
